District Panchayat with a plan to convert poultry waste into animal feed in all poultry shops in the district. The district panchayat is implementing the project in association with a private company ‘Freshcut’. The factory has facilities for processing waste from poultry shops in the panchayats, municipalities and corporations of the district. The factory was built on an uninhabited 2.5 acre land in Kattipara panchayath at a cost of `12.5 crore. In poultry shops, the waste is stored in the freezer and transported to the treatment plant in a vehicle with a freezer. The District Panchayat has directed that all the local bodies in the district should contribute to the Poultry Waste Treatment Plant.
